Best Beer Can Chicken

As the days start to warm up we find that the barbecue is our go to cooker. There is something so nostalgic about grilling up a chicken on a warm day. Reminds me of being a kid and barbecuing at my grandparents house.

Nothing brings back that wonderful feeling, than by roasting a beer can chicken. There is something about the juices from the can that leave the meat moist and tender.

My hope with this recipe is that it brings you back to fond memories with friends and family.

  • Brine chicken for 2 hours in the salt and sugar. Find a bowl or pot large enough for the chicken. Add the salt and sugar to a small amount of water and stir until mostly dissolved. Then add chicken and fill with water until just covering the chicken.
  • Once out of the brine, pat dry and season as you like.
  • Whatever "beer" or drink you decide to use, make sure the can is only 1/2 full. Add some of your seasoning to the can also.
  • Cook in the middle of the barbecue rack for 1hr 15 in – 1hr 30min or until the breast is 165 degrees.
